Hair

Hair was a short student film I made for my Uni course’s class on Issues of reprensentation in animation. I chose to look at body hair for both masculine and feminine characters. I found it weird that body hair even for masculine stopmotion characters, who did not have to be resticted by line weight, was still only reserved for creepy characters. For this film I needle felted a Puppet for the character I was using to explore hair and also mini poseable ‘pubes’ and a zoomed in patch of skin with hair growing out to create the b roll. Alongside of this I included the timelapse footage I shot of making the puppet as physical manifestation of me exploring body hair in stop motion in real time I shot this on a down shooter with dragon frame.
